Pump.fun has been ground zero for the meme coin market in 2024, with the platform being used to create over 2.6 million Solana tokens to date—including some truly odd stuff paired with headline-grabbing stunts. But a new video feature launched Wednesday was almost immediately exploited in a detestable manner.

The platform’s developers confirmed to Decrypt on Thursday that the a user tapped the new feature to upload child sexual abuse material to the site, which Pump.fun said was quickly removed.

On Wednesday, the token launchpad enabled users to create meme coins with tokenized videos, adding fresh functionality as users could only previously include images and GIFs. This resulted in a slew of edgy, quirky, and otherwise amusing projects being launched. But at least one user took the opportunity to spread horrific child abuse material.
