India L. Sneed, a Government Law & Policy Practice associate in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s New York office, was honored at the Women of Excellence Awards Ceremony May 11 at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York. City & State New York, Spectrum, and the NAACP New York State Conference sponsored the event, which salutes “some of the most prominent women in government, business and media in New York State who are making a difference in our communities.”

Sneed is dedicated to giving back and involved in numerous organizations, including the National Black Prosecutors Association, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, and serves on the Education Subcommittee of Greenberg Traurig’s Justice Initiative.

Sneed advises clients on matters pertaining to government law and policy, election law, and investigations. She has vast experience as a leader in governmental and legislative roles, having served as deputy director of the New York City Mayor’s Action Plan where she was responsible for interagency coordination of citywide programs and managing a multimillion dollar budget; chief of staff and legislative and budget director for two city council members where she led bill drafting and negotiations and allocated funds to community partners; and as executive director of the New York State Black, Latino and Asian Caucus engaging legislators statewide on a wide variety of matters. She also served as a prosecutor in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, leading investigations into officer misconduct and hate crimes and conducting bench and jury trials.
